The Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy division of the Jewish Educational Center is excited to announce the signing today of highly acclaimed Avi Borenstein as head Basketball Coach for its Varsity, Junior Varsity and JJV teams.
Having commenced his coaching career at the side of former RTMA coach Tzvi Goldberg, Borenstein rejoins RTMA after sixteen seasons of taking the lead as head coach for basketball teams in other schools including Yeshiva of Flatbush and Frisch, which he is credited with turning into a tournament winning “powerhouse.”
Everywhere he went, his up-tempo style of offense and defense, along with an emphasis on personal player growth, has enabled Avi to empower his players to improve exponentially, often from lackluster performance to championship caliber success, and RTMA looks forward to much of the same.
In his spare time he serves as Senior Partner at Borenstein, McConnell & Calpin, P.C., and says that he “looks forward to rejoining the RTMA family and coaching the RTMA Thunder once again”.
Avi’s son Alec played for the RTMA JV and Varsity teams, his daughter Amanda played for Bruriah’s Lightning, and his grandchildren now attend the Yeshiva of Elizabeth elementary division of JEC.
