Eidy Moses, the proprietor of Euro Design Couture, has always loved to sew. Growing up in Monsey, NY, Moses has been infatuated with creating and designing since she was 12 years old. “About 15 years ago, I noticed there were very few places that did custom dress design and I knew there was great demand, especially for weddings,” said Eidy. “Since this is my passion, I decided to jump in.” Eidy was determined to fill the gap, and began doing dressmaking in her house. She immediately found herself extremely busy with an over-full schedule. About five years ago, Moses opened her store, using imported exclusive silk and wool fabrics from all designers.
The popular store carries designer labels in addition to straight-from-the-runway looks and cutting-edge styles custom made by Eidy for the frum customer. And customers are flocking to her in droves, coming from well beyond Monsey, including many from New Jersey communities such as West Orange, Teaneck, Passaic and Englewood. Eidy loves collaborating with customers and designing elegant and chic dresses and gowns. She is inspired by great design houses like Valentino, Caroline Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Badgley Mischka. “I follow all the latest trends and adapt them,” she said. She noted that she doesn’t copy other designs, but rather prefers to ask customers about their favorites so she knows what the customer will like best. “It requires a delicate eye and sensibility, and this is what I do. I have assembled a talented team and together we deliver unique and exceptional results.”
Eidy said she and her team work with the customer’s budget. They do custom color, can switch tops and skirts, and provide expert advice as to what styles suit each person best. Their service is very personalized. “We pride ourselves on working within your budget and style,” said Eidy. They also sell ready-to-wear separates, and bar/bat mitzvah outfits in just the right color, custom suits for Shabbos, all couture, piece by piece, each a special fit, with no two alike. “Whatever you buy here, you won’t see anywhere else,” she said.
She also enjoys creating custom looks for families, and said that their welcoming and friendly style is sure to please. “Our styles are fun too. Stop by and take a look. You will love the experience, and we will make you beautiful,” said Eidy.
Euro Design Couture makes dresses to sell and to rent. They rent many dresses. Euro Design Couture does bridesmaid lines as well as sister-of-the-bride and bridal party, and will be expanding into bridal in 2016. The business has an outstanding seamstress on premises and can make any dress. They encourage customers to bring in magazine pictures to help them create the dress of your dreams.
The store is in the midst of its busy season, with little time to create, so Eidy recommends that customers come take a look and make a first appointment well in advance of their simcha.
