CNBC held its biggest-ever stock draft (coinciding with the NFL draft) on CNBC’s “Power Lunch,” with eight top teams picking their favorite stock ideas for the investment contest.
A winner will be chosen based on the performance of each team’s two stock draft choices from the closing price on April 27 through the 2018 Super Bowl on February 4, 2018.
For the first time, a university team participated right alongside the seasoned professionals such as Kevin O’Leary, O’Shares Investments chairman, and Tim Seymour, Triogem Asset Management managing partner.
Borger Financial Services Alumni representing Rutgers University included Michael Dirla (Rutgers Business School) and Joseph Acoury as the “Rutgers All-Stars.”
For the past two years, Dirla served as the assistant director of Rutgers Road to Wall Street Program and is a member of the incoming Investment Banking Analyst class at Credit Suisse in New York. While at Rutgers, he worked as a client service liaison at Borger Financial from 2014-2015.
Acoury interned at Borger Financial from 2016-2017 and was recently elected incoming chair of the Rutgers University Undergraduate Student Managed Fund (Rutgers SMF), an investment fund created by Little Investment Bankers of Rutgers (LIBOR) members for the undergraduate community at Rutgers. The mission of RSMF and LIBOR is to educate its members and strengthen their knowledge of the financial markets. The student groups achieve their goals by holding weekly meetings in which members discuss various investment strategies and analyze current events in the economy.
The Rutgers team selected Bank of America Corporation (BAC) and Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company (PFE) in the nine-month CNBC Stock Challenge. Best of luck swimming with the sharks!
