RYNJ 7th Grade Girls Perform ‘Shilgiah’

“The play’s the thing.” That was certainly the theme for the seventh grade girls of RYNJ last Tuesday. RYNJ students proudly presented “Shilgiah,” an original Hebrew version of Snow White and the Dozen (yes, dozen!) Dwarfs. They had been working for two months, memorizing lines, designing and painting scenery, creating props, rehearsing and designating a tzedakah to which to donate the performance’s proceeds.

The hard-working RYNJ actresses put on their play three times on March 29, and the final presentation was an evening benefit for family and friends. The students dedicated their play in memory of Morah Tova Reznick, talented and beloved administrator and teacher, who touched the lives of so many students in so many ways. The girls knew that Matan B’Seter Bambi, a charity in Israel, was a cause that was very dear to their Morah Tova’s heart. Therefore, they chose that tzedakah as the recipient of the over $1000 that they raised at their event.

The seventh grade talmidot will be presenting an encore performance of Snow White next week at the Hebrew Home in Riverdale. RYNJ seventh graders had visited the Home as mitzvah clowns in December and are looking forward to entertaining and visiting with the residents there, once again.
