RYNJ Fifth Graders Recognize Amazing Women

RYNJ 5th graders wrote amazing 5-paragraph research reports on Amazing Women Historical Figures.  Each girl began by selecting a woman in history who achieved significantly, and impacted the world around her. From the research stage through the writing process, the girls used many writing, executive functioning and higher order thinking skills. They then culminated this project with an “Amazing Women Historical Figures Meet and Greet,” arriving in character as the subjects of their reports. The group included amazing women such as Sarah Schenirer, Golda Meir, Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Amelia Earhart, and 5G2 learned so much from hearing their stories. The girls felt that this project shows women’s impact on the world and on history. “Today women are doctors, judges, or really anything,” said several students. “And it’s all because of these amazing women.” Another student said, “This project showed that a small person can make a BIG impact!” Great job, 5G2.
