Walking into the RYNJ lunchroom this past week felt like a wonderland of numbers. Over 100 RYNJ students, along with their parents and grandparents, enjoyed a marvelous night of interactive math games at the annual 1st Grade Family Math Night. The event was filled with three rotating stations of entertaining games that were run by RYNJ’s wonderful 1st grade general studies team. It was a magnificent opportunity for the first graders to work on their critical thinking skills and reasoning ability, all while playing games and spending quality time with family and friends.
The night ended off with a bang, with the announcement of the winner of the Jelly Bean Jar Estimation Challenge. Mazal tov to Ray Cohen who took home a whopping 1,264 jelly beans for her closest guess of 1,020. Ray took it upon herself to share her jelly beans with her classmates.
Everyone left the lunchroom with smiles on their faces and decks of cards in their hands. They look forward to many more FUNtastic Family Math Nights.
