RYNJ Jaguars Are Back to Back Haymish Champions

The RYNJ Jaguars completed a perfect undefeated season defeating the Kushner Cobras 3-0 at a packed TABC gym. The Jaguars defended the title they won almost exactly one year ago. Both teams received great support from their family, students, administration and alumni.

After a scoreless first period, the Jaguars finally got on the scoreboard with a goal at 6:14 of the second period by Dani Greenberg assisted by Max Sandel. Then in the third period, it was déjá vu as the Jaguars went on a power play, securing a big insurance goal. This was a familiar scenario to last year’s championship game, when after an Eli Knapp face-off win and a perfect pass from Sariel Rotblat to an open Noam Kornwasser, he blasted it home to make the score 2-0. Now, the Jaguars did not let up. They continued to apply pressure the rest of the way wearing down the Cobras. With 2:04 to go, Dani Greenberg found the back of the net again to seal the game on a great pass from Knapp. Chants of MVP started for Greenberg from the RYNJ faithful. But the game was won not only due to the three goals they scored but also to the stellar goal-tending of Chaim Mermelstein who shutout a strong 2nd seeded Kushner team.

Special thanks to commissioner David Gross, TABC and TABC TV for organizing and hosted the game.
