RYNJ Mitzvah Clowning

With their pink smudged cheeks, big outlined smiley mouths, and creative designs, you’d never guess that it was the RYNJ 7th grade girls at school. As the girls arrived at school, they began their prep to become perfect Mitzvah Clowns. With help from Heather Hagler, the school psychologist, their teachers, and the very experienced Dipsy Doodle Mitzvah Clown, the girls swept colors across their faces, drew and painted on their noses, and learned how to make their eyes “pop”. They learned tips and tricks on how to embrace their new Mitzvah Clown persona.

The talmidot discovered that it isn’t just the right makeup that makes a good clown. Rather, it is one’s attitude, as well as the smile and joy that they can bring to others. By the end of the day, the RYNJ 7th grade students knew all the secrets to being perfect Mitzvah Clowns and they are looking forward to putting their new expertise into action next month when they will visit a local nursing home.
