The budding artists in Mrs. Blumenthal and Mrs. Gross’ second grade classes had a special art lesson last week.
First, the boys learned about Claude Monet and Impressionism. Next, they studied a variety of his paintings on the bridges and waterfalls and how he created reflections in the water. They saw how he mixed and used a variety of colors in his paintings. After learning these techniques, the boys were now ready to become Monet artists.
Mrs. Ghermazian, a mom with sons in both classes, joined us to show the boys how to create their own impressionist paintings using a variety of different size sponges and masking tape. The boys created their own “Monet type’ works of art and became experts in the colors of Monet.
