Who knew history could be so much fun? Leaving RYNJ and the high tech world of 2017 behind, RYNJ third graders got on the “magic school bus” to step back in time. At Museum Village in Monroe, they explored daily life in the 19th century, making their classroom social studies lessons come alive. Meandering among the chickens on the rural property, entering small cottages to see candle making, printing and weaving, to name a few—RYNJ students found themselves knee-deep in colonial history. Attentively listening to presenters, examining artifacts and having hands-on experiences, their waving hands for questions made it obvious they had acquired a plethora of information. All of the RYNJ students agreed the trip was a success!
