RYNJ seventh grade girls are involved in an exciting chesed project of mitzvah clowning. The mitzvah clowning program offers a unique and fun opportunity for RYNJ students to cheer up individuals who live in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This past week, talmidot visited the Hebrew Home of Riverdale. Talmidot had a blast clowning around and interacting with the elderly residents. The girls had a quick tour of the facility and then got straight to work at engaging and schmoozing with the residents. They also learned they had a lot in common with many of the residents, and asked questions about what they like to do with their friends now and when they were in seventh grade. They had a special treat at the end of the visit, as they toured the Jewish museum exhibit in the Hebrew Home. It was quite a day. Students did not want to leave and were already asking when they can go back and visit again. RYNJ talmidot made quite the impression on the residents as well, and they too are eagerly awaiting a return visit soon.
