Mrs. Blumenthal’s RYNJ second grade class had a special guest this week, Moshe Lew’s grandfather, Jack Lew. Lew has worked in the White House for two presidents, and most recently for President Obama as White House Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Treasury.
The RYNJ students learned that the White House is a lot smaller than Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Versailles. The boys in Mrs. Blumenthal’s class were treated to a spectacular PowerPoint presentation that showed them the daily workings inside the White House.
The students also learned where important decisions are made as well as where parties or relaxation takes place. They discovered when the president uses Air Force One and when he uses his helicopter. Afterwards, the boys had the opportunity to ask Lew questions about how he got his job and what he enjoyed most about working for our presidents.
The boys were very impressed, and who knows? Maybe there are some budding presidents in RYNJ!
