Paul Klee, a Swiss born and abstract artist, was the inspiration for RYNJ first grade cityscapes. Klee used many geometric shapes and created a city that was more abstract. RYNJ students were tasked to create a city that was made of mostly geometric shapes such as triangles, squares and circles. First they built their city using blocks, then they sketched their building and then each student chose a color scheme that they used to paint their watercolor abstract, Klee-like cityscapes. They all turned out to be so beautiful.
