It has been a spirited and joyful Adar leading up to a wonderful Purim at SAR Academy. As is its longstanding tradition, SAR Academy holds school on Purim so the community can come together to celebrate and learn in fun and experiential ways. Purim at SAR Academy was a blast! Students, faculty and staff came to school dressed up in amazing costumes as families joined the festivities for tefillah and Megillah. Multiple readings took place throughout the building, including one led by middle school boys (post-bar mitzvah), another led by middle school girls (post-bat mitzvah), and multiple grade-wide readings (grades one through four) led by faculty and eighth grade students. Kol hakavod to the middle school students who leined Megillah for fellow students and parents this Purim.
A special thank you to Rabbi Daniel Levy and Rosh Kehilah Dina Najman for supporting students in their learning and preparation. Megillah was followed by amazing Purim activities, from a festive middle school chagiga and fun cereal bar, to a special Purim play and singalong in the ELC! The SAR community also came together for a matanot l’evyonim drive to support Congregation Sons of Israel of the Bronx, a shul that currently serves 80 families with weekly Shabbat meals. SAR has also been collecting excess mishloach manot items for the Major Stuart Adam Wolfer Institute’s Support Our Troops Day event for U.S. Troops.
