Throughout the week, SAR Academy students beautifully expressed their unwavering support for Israel. Never before have studnets gathered on the steps for 10 mornings in a row, but they continue to stand together daily in tefillot for Medinat Yisrael and Am Yisrael. Within hours, the community quickly mobilized, raising $300,000 for organizations assisting on the ground with mental health, food, equipment and supplies. Students and community volunteers donated, packed and drove nearly 60 duffle bags full of items that will be delivered directly to the frontlines. Students have “adopted” a friend or family member who requires tefillot and sent hundreds of letters to chayalim, which have been hand-delivered to Tzahal bases throughout Israel. The school community has connected virtually with members of the SAR family who are now living in Israel and showed them support. Hundreds of students showed up proud and strong at a midtown rally and wrote letters of gratitude to President Biden, Mayor Adams and Congressman Ritchie Torres. Teachers have opened their classrooms virtually and launched a website of educational resources called Reach to Teach for children in Israel whose schools are currently closed. Everyone is praying for the safety of Israel and Am Yisrael.
