SAR Academy Presents Wacky Wax Museum

Did you know that Neil Armstrong mowed lawns and worked at a bakery to save up money for pilot lessons? Or that Jeff Kinney loved to doodle and read comic strips in the newspaper? The SAR Academy third graders each researched a biography character, learned fascinating details about their early life and achievements and stepped into character for the third grade’s annual Wacky Wax Museum. There was a distinguished cast of characters ranging from astronauts, politicians, scientists, inventors, entertainers, authors, athletes, musicians, supreme court justices and dancers, to many more remarkable individuals who have made a difference in the world! This year brand new additions were welcomed to the Wax Museum such as Margaret Lowman, David Attenborough, Ada Lovelace and Naomi Osaka.

The dazzling costumes were complemented by creative props such as Nobel Peace Prizes, apple trees, Gatorade bottles, Coca-Cola cans and balance beams. The exhibits were truly interactive. In order to make each third grader’s exhibit come to life, guests read a sign and performed the indicated action. For example, if you fed the banana to the chimpanzee, Jane Goodall would unfreeze and begin speaking. There were inspirational messages each third grader created to give to the world. Some of the messages included: “Choose fairness and life will be supreme,” “Always grow to reach your full potential,” “Life is electrifying so light up the world,” and “No great discovery was ever made without a bold guess.”

Thank you to the third grade faculty for creating such a memorable day and to all visitors, including the second grade students, who made the event such a success by interacting with the “exhibits,” sharing photos and giving such positive feedback. The museum was definitely a smashing success!
