SAR informed parents in an email to the school community on Monday that Rabbi Jonathan Skolnick, the middle school associate principal of Judaic studies, was arrested by the FBI and the NYPD sex crimes task force last Friday night. The email, from Rabbi Binyamin Krauss, SAR’s principal, said that the school had reason to believe that SAR students may have been victimized by Skolnick. Rabbi Krauss reported that Skolnick had been immediately terminated by SAR, where he had worked for the past 14 months. From September 2012 to June 2018, he had worked at the Yeshivah of Flatbush. He stands accused of involvment in child pornography.
“I know that this is an extremely difficult message to read and process on many levels,” wrote Rabbi Krauss. “It is shocking to know that someone who we have trusted with our children has been accused of harming them. Despite the practices in place to protect our children, we are not immune to breaches such as the one that seems to have taken place at SAR.”
Anyone who may have been victimized by Skolnick was urged to contact SAR at (718)548-1717 and/or the FBI at (800)CALL-FBI. Yeshivah of Flatbush also requested that anyone with information reach out to the FBI and/or their school’s guidance team at (718)377-1100 ext. 190.
