SAR Girls Varsity Softball Completes Amazing Championship Run

SAR girls varsity softball started out their season strong, opening with two wins and going on to finish their season only 3-5 (fourth place). They made it to the playoffs and faced first place SKA, winning 11-2 and finding their groove. SAR caught their stride and went on to beat one of the toughest teams in the league—the Ma’ayanot Rapids—4-1, making it to the championship. The championship game was held Sunday June 17, vs. Hillel Heat. It was a fun-filled Father’s Day with many friends and family in attendance. SAR came out of the gate connecting right away with hits by Samantha Horowitz and Olivia Weinstein scoring three runs in the first inning. Freshman pitcher Lucy Hecht held strong with the pressure on, walking a few batters but always able to pull it together. Defense was solid throughout the game with left fielder Millie Helft catching everything hit to her, shortstop Sophia Reich making some key outs, plus controlling the field and right fielder S. M. making the big out of the inning. This was a game of teamwork and hanging strong until the end. Lady Sting came out on top winning their third championship for SAR softball with a score 5-1. Congratulations to SAR Sting softball and head coach Valerie Gryzlo (10th Season), assistant coach Arielle Gurin (third season) and assistant coach Dahlia Fischer (second season).
