SAR High School Beekeeping Club Makes Honey

Last year sisters Jordana and Sabrina Waxman founded the SAR High School Beekeeping Club. Last winter the club, 15 members strong, learned about bees and beekeeping from Rabbi Daniel Senter, an apiarist extraordinaire. When spring came, Rabbi Senter, the students and faculty advisor Dr. Qiao Feng, installed two beehives on the roof of SAR High School. Students checked on the hives over the course of the school year and the hives produced their first batch of honey just in time for Rosh Hashanah. In the coming years, as the hives mature, 200,000 plus bees will produce even more honey. Shana Tova from SAR High School!
