Chanukah celebrations began last week with a school-wide candle lighting and Maariv on Monday afternoon, the second night of Chanukah, with a beautiful performance from SAR choir featuring the song “Miracle” by Matisyahu. The festivities continued on Tuesday with an amazing chagigah by world renowned singer Gad Elbaz. Thank you to the SAR parent association for sponsoring the program—it was such a special treat! Students and faculty enjoyed the performance and were on the floor singing and dancing. Special shout out to Dana Jason (AC ‘92) and Careena Parker, SAR HSPA co-chairs, for organizing the concert.
After the energizing performance, Rabbi Tully Harcsztark, dressed as his alter ego M.C. Harc, made an epic appearance breaking out Mac-a-Bee. The Hive was buzzing all week with many special programs incorporating the theme of the Shulchan Aruch and infusing opportunities to celebrate SAR’s 50th anniversary into the programming. Each grade’s team was named for one of the four sections of Rabbi Yosef’s Caro’s Shulchan Aruch.
