SAR High School Model UN Team Earns Best Delegation for Sixth Straight Year

SAR High School Model UN team places first as Best Delegation for the sixth year in a row!

SAR took first place at the Yeshiva University Model United Nations convention. This international event draws nearly 450 high school students from 42 schools across the United States and Canada, and with participating delegations from Brazil and South Africa. It is a testament to the team’s hard work, and their coach’s commitment to excellence, that they continue to place first among many other talented peers.

This year, SAR delegates displayed its extraordinary skill in debating various topics such as water cleanliness and shortages, disrupting terrorist financing, involvement of women in government and the conflict in Xinjiang and Chinese abuses of the Uyghur population. While individual awards are granted, YU also recognizes entire teams for their success, and working as a tight-knit group has contributed to SAR’s winning streak.

Representing Belgium and Norway, students impressed committee chairs and fellow delegates with eloquent and convincing debate, well-crafted position papers and successfully negotiated resolutions. Congratulations to Gideon Askowitz (Honorable Mention, Disarmament and International Security Committee), Jacob Cohen (UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), Adin Gitig* (Honorable Mention, World Health Organization), Rita Feder* (Best Delegate, Security Council), Tifi Grossman (Honorable Mention, Counter Terrorism Committee), Rebecca Klein (Best Delegate, World Food Program), Isaac Ohrenstein (UN Office on Drugs and Crime), Shamma Pepper-Fox* (Best Delegate, Middle East Summit), Adin Pepper-Fox (Honorable Mention, UN Environment Programme), Maya Rubenstein (Honorable Mention, Commission on the Status of Women), and Lia Solomon* (Best Delegate, UN Human Rights Council).
