SAR Holds Israeli Election Day

Last week, students and faculty voted in an SAR Israel mock election, which concluded the Ivrit classes election discussions. For class, students researched the different parties that ran for Israel’s Parliament, from the left to the right of the political map. In order to make an informed decision, students presented (בעברית) where each party stands on security issues, foreign relations, church and state questions, economic and social views and more.

On Monday morning, the day prior to the elections in Israel, the SAR ballot opened. The voting process was identical to the process in Israel: Students received an envelope, went one-by-one behind the screen and took a slip with the letters of the party they chose. Then they put the slip in the envelope and dropped it in the ballot, as they do in Israel. By participating in the mock election, students gained a stronger understanding of one of the greatest pillars of Israeli democracy.
