On Wednesday, October 17, SAR Academy eighth graders joined representatives of Amcha and other Jewish institutions, along with 10th graders from SAR High School and students from Westchester Day School, Ramaz and North Shore Hebrew Academy, to participate in a memorial gathering to honor the life and legacy of Ari Fuld, HY”D. The program took place outside the Israeli Consulate and included the recitation of Tehillim, readings by students and shira led by SAR Academy Music Director David Glazer. Brief remarks were also shared by former SAR Academy Principal Rabbi Yonah Fuld (via audio recording from Israel) and by various communal leaders, including Rabbi Avi Weiss, founder of Amcha; Dani Dayan, consul general of Israel in New York; Rabbi Binyamin Krauss, principal of SAR Academy, Rabbi Steven Exler, senior rabbi of The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale—The Bayit; and Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz, senior rabbi of Kehilath Jeshurun. Following the speeches and singing in front of the Israeli Consulate, participants walked together across the street and down the steps to the Isaiah Wall, facing the United Nations. There, everyone joined together to sing “Am Yisrael Chai.”

The memorial gathering provided a meaningful opportunity to pay tribute to Fuld, HY”D, and his beloved family.
