Senior Exploration, the capstone project that all SAR High School students complete prior to graduation, was a major success for the Class of 2025. Over the course of three weeks, the students devoted their hours to one of several choices: internship, fieldwork, volunteerism, certification, a creative project, or research. Now in its 19th year, Senior Exploration is a highlight of the 12th grade calendar, with teachers aiding students as their project mentors and presentation judges. As is the case every year, many seniors have fulfilling internships in fields like medicine, law, real estate, and education. This year, we saw some very unique presentations.
For instance, two seniors, Caleb E. and Saul H., had over 60,000 views on Instagram for their SAR Experience podcast, featuring guest speakers among the student body and faculty. Five 12th graders did fieldwork on farms. Three volunteered at Acadia National Park. Another three interned at Congressman Ritchie Torres’ office. Rinat K.-R. and Lia T. documented their experience running a Tough Mudder, while Reuben S. filmed his multi-day walk across Rhode Island. Livi K. recorded an eight-song album. Merav K.-R. and Tali Z. managed SAR’s food pantry. Asher K. used physics equations as inspiration in creating eight artistic pieces. And the list goes on and on.
While keeping second semester seniors engaged in their final weeks of high school can certainly pose a challenge, at SAR, students look forward to their final assignment. They are granted independence in seeking out an opportunity that resonates with them, whether it is a springboard to a career or something they would otherwise never pursue. As SAR celebrates the spectacular Class of 2025, the Senior Exploration project puts an exclamation point on their remarkable careers.
