In recognition of Pink Day, SAR HS students and faculty were tickled pink to dress in their favorite pink clothing and accessories and get into a giving mood. During activity period, students heard from SAR Academy Teacher and Parent Jenny Sokol about her personal experience with breast cancer. Throughout the morning, Pink Day cookies, swag and snacks were sold in the lobby and students and faculty lined up to support the cause. All proceeds went to Sharsheret, a nonprofit dedicated to providing personalized support, education and community for Jewish women facing breast and/or ovarian cancer.
“Pink day has been an event at SAR for many years and we are just one link in the chain, keeping the tradition going,” said Yakira R., co-chair of the event along with Lizzie H. and Maddie D. “We think Sharsheret and Breast Cancer Awareness are both very important causes and we are so grateful that we could help raise money for them. Many students came together to make cookies, buy shirts and snacks, and support Sharsheret. The program was very moving and we were all inspired and appreciative of Ms. Sokol’s talk. Thanks to Ms. Sokol, Russi and everyone who helped raise money for making Pink Day such a success!!”
