Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Dr. Caryn Keller, SAR history teacher, Ms. Adina Shoulson, history department chair, and Ms. Gloria Schneider, director of General Studies accompanied 17 students to the ADL’s Never is Now Conference. Students learned about combating antisemitism and all forms of hate by attending workshops about social media, disinformation and empowering allies. Attorney general Merrick Garland shared moving words about his family’s experience, and the role that the United States played in saving his family and offering them a safe haven in which to thrive.

“I wanted to go to be a part of the discussion and hear the things that were being talked about when it comes to antisemitism today,” said Senior Noam W. “For me it was particularly moving to see all the non Jewish people there who showed up to listen and learn.’

The students joined with close to 1,000 other high school students to learn about these important topics and left the conference armed with practical tools for responding to antisemitism and hate.
