After losing the first two games of the regular season to Ma’ayanot, the SAR girls varsity softball was determined to get revenge on the Rapids. On Sunday, June 3, SAR played Ma’ayanot in the semifinal game. At the beginning of the game, it was close and Ma’ayanot struck first making it 1-0 behind the amazing pitching from freshman Ariella Vogel. However, SAR countered with an important hit from senior Gabby Cohen, which changed the course of the game making it 3-1. The rest of the game was played with tight defense from both sides. When Ma’ayanot tried to retake the lead, it was sophomore Millie Helft who caught two crucial balls. We would not be here without the help of our amazing coaching staff, head coach Valerie Gryzlo, and assistants Dalia Fischer and Arielle Gurin. With the amazing coaching, SAR was able to tighten their defense, holding Ma’ayanot to only four hits. SAR is now advancing to the league championship.
