SAR’s Sophomore Splash was a weekend the 10th graders will never forget! The students started off preparing for Shabbat by baking challot as a grade. Then, before heading to the Kartrite Hotel for Shabbat, they bonded while packing 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger.
Shabbat was filled with ruach and bonding. Students experienced beautiful tefillot, meaningful conversations, spirited singing after meals and at the tish, and lots of fun playing games formally and informally with members of their grade. The theme of the shabbaton was “connections,” and students certainly made lots of new connections with their peers and teachers over the course of the weekend.
On Motzei Shabbat, students participated in karaoke before spending time at the Kartrite WaterPark. Much to their surprise and delight, everyone who attended soon learned that they were snowed in! Students enjoyed playing in the snow and another night of bonding and fun before heading home on Sunday morning.
“This was the best shabbaton I’ve ever been on as it had an amazing atmosphere and experiences such as the post- post- post- tish tish tish tish, the water park and the snow” said sophomore Sara Back. “Thanks to the snow, our whole grade was able to stay at the hotel for an extra night and enjoy even more time with our friends.”
The weekend brought the grade together in a unique bonding experience, setting the bar high for an amazing junior shabbaton next year.
