The 2024 Red Sarachek Tournament will be held from Wednesday, March 27 through Monday, April 1, and promises to be as exciting as ever. The Yeshiva University tournament committee chose 21 participants to compete this year, nine of which are Yeshiva League schools: DRS, Flatbush, Frisch, HAFTR, Magen David, MTA, Ramaz, RKYHS and TABC. In a new twist for this tournament, two teams—DRS and Frisch—will compete in a play-in game on March 27. The winner will get into the final field of 20, while the loser will be eliminated altogether from the competition.
The last four tournaments have been won by California teams—two in a row by Shalhavet, followed by two canceled competitions due to Covid-19, followed by two in a row by Valley Torah—but a couple of MYHSAL squads, Magen David and Flatbush, hope to buck that trend. The two Brooklyn schools are currently ranked 1-2 nationally by Jewish Hoops America, as well as 1-2 in the Yeshiva League Pass Camp Lavi Power Rankings. Several other Yeshiva League teams believe that they too can go on a run. TABC and Ramaz finished 1-2 in the Western Conference, and are expected to each garner seeding near the top. Additionally, Frisch, DRS and HAFTR all have put together quality resumes this season and have the pieces to make a run at a title.
Seeding will be released in a couple of weeks. For all Sarachek updates, follow @yeshivaleaguepass on Instagram
