Save the Date for Ma’ayanot’s Annual Scholarship Dinner

On Saturday evening, March 7th, Ma’ayanot parents, students, alumnae and friends will gather at Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck for Ma’ayanot’s Annual Scholarship Dinner where they will pay tribute to seven extraordinary honorees.

Rena and Menachem Schnaidman are being honored with the Keter Shem Tov Award for their unyielding commitment to Ma’ayanot’s mission, growth and success. Mrs. Schnaidman has been an active Parent Council member, started an early version of the school’s Parnes Hayom program, served on the Ma’ayanot’s Middle States Accreditation Committee, and is a generous supporter of the school’s Adult Education Program. Mr. Schnaidman has engaged in a variety of leadership roles, including serving on Ma’ayanot’s Executive Board and as a member of Ma’ayanot’s Finance and Development Committees.

Chani and David Moss are being honored with the Amudei Ma’ayanot Award for the work they’ve done to ensure that an outstanding Ma’ayanot education is available to all young women in the community, regardless of financial need. Rabbi Moss has worked on the school’s Annual Dinner Committee for many years, and currently serves as Chair of the school’s Development Committee. Mrs. Moss has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2010 and of the Executive Board since 2013, where she currently serves as a Vice President; she also chairs both the Governance and Nominating Committees.

Sharon and Ari Wieder are being honored as Parents of the Year for their tireless devotion to enhancing Ma’ayanot’s academic community. Together they have worked on the school’s Annual Dinner and Recruitment Committees. Individually, Mr. Weider has been a devoted member of the Board of Trustees, and Mrs. Weider has been an active Parent Council member, where she served as Vice President for two years.

Rabbi Donny Besser, Mashgiach Richani and Talmud and Halakha teacher, will receive the Teacher of the Year Award. In his teaching of Talmud and Halakha, Rabbi Besser challenges students to think conceptually and to appreciate both the religious and intellectual relevance of Torah she-be-al peh. As Mashgiach Ruchani, Rabbi Besser is passionate about encouraging students’ religious growth and commitment in ways that are authentic and lasting. The Ma’ayanot Community is thrilled to recognize the significant contributions of this outstanding educator.

All funds raised through the dinner will dedicated to underwriting Ma’ayanot’s scholarship program, which awarded more than $1 million for the current fiscal year to families in financial need.
