Dear Shayna,
I am scared for school to start. I am going to a new school. l might not know what they expect me to know, and l might not make friends. What should l do?
Yours truly,
Nervous Nicole
Dear Nervous Nicole,
You have a problem that’s really common. In your new school, act like you did in your old school. In other words, be yourself. Look for other new kids and ask if you can sit with them at lunch. They have the same problem as you, so they know how you feel.
In regard to not knowing what you’re supposed to know, you’re supposed to learn things in school and review them. Your teachers are supposed to find out what you don’t know so they can teach it to you.
You were smart to ask me for advice so you can be smart in school, too.
But if things don’t work out in school, just remember, you only have about eight more years left of school. No biggie, right?:)
Best of luck,
Shayna B.
