(Courtesy of SCFL) The children of Congregation Bet Yosef, The Sephardic Congregation of Fort Lee, and the Rockleigh Jewish Home residents have a very special memory that will accompany them for the rest of their lives. On Monday, February 19, the children and parents got together to assemble mishloach manot and deliver them to the residents for a second consecutive year. The sight of small hands and feet working diligently (with little assistance of their parents) to put together all the goodies was moving. Many parents felt this was an effective way to teach their children about chesed and how important it is to share with others. Upon arrival to the home the group was guided to different rooms, where the children introduced themselves and distributed the mishloach manot. The residents were so appreciative, not only by the gift but by the fact that children took a few hours on President’s Day, which is their day off, and spent it with them. The children even got to sing, and the happiness and joy could be felt in the air!
A special thank you goes to the parents who organized this event and the Rockleigh Jewish Home for giving them the opportunity to come. For more information about the congregation, please visit their website at www.scflee.com.
