This year SAR Academy used the theme of superheroes to celebrate their faculty and staff “superheroes” during Teacher Appreciation Week. What is a superhero, after all? A person who wakes each morning, prepared to find and solve whatever problem the world uncovers. A person who seeks to do good, no matter what is happening in society. A person who finds ways to make a difference in others’ lives. Each day this week the school found creative ways to show faculty and staff how much they are appreciated. On Monday, the heroes were gifted with “super”sweatshirts and a surprise video from students. On Tuesday, administrators served faculty and staff “bold and strong” coffee and treats in superhero mugs inspired by their strength. A special picnic involving “hero” sandwiches took place on Wednesday. Teachers also gifted postcards to fellow teachers to thank one another and were surprised with another video of appreciation from students. Every superhero needs a gadget and on Tuesday faculty and staff received fidget gadgets and letters of gratitude from parents. This “super” week came to a close as the Parent Association showed appreciation with a special gift and challot on Friday, just in time for Shabbat. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week and thank you to the SAR “super” squad and to all of the superheroes out there.
