Yeshivat Frisch Holds Virtual Engineering Symposium

Yeshivat Frisch’s engineering program celebrated the end of the year with a virtual symposium last Wednesday. Engineering on Zoom required students to be especially creative in their designs and simulations. This year’s capstone projects were presented in a new format, with students showcasing their innovations and prototypes via the websites they created. Technion alumnus Dr. Assaf Zinger, one of Israel’s rising stars in the areas of biomedical engineering and nanotherapeutics, opened the evening and shared his journey and cutting edge research. Attendees were then treated to a video highlighting this year’s Frisch engineering experience.

Students, parents and guests were then hosted by senior engineering students in numerous Zoom rooms where they heard a variety of teams present their designs. “It was really interesting to see, hear and interact with students from other grades and classes as they presented their projects,” said Frisch sophomore Josh Kaplan. “Usually, I spend my free time in the Fab Lab or the engineering labs and get to see the other grade projects, but this year that wasn’t an option from home! I was really happy we had the symposium. It gave us the opportunity to celebrate our hard work and accomplishments while enjoying the innovations of other Frisch engineering students.”

The program was dedicated by the Maurice and Hester Lowenthal Foundation in memory of Mitzi and Edward Traurig z”l.
