Last week, TABC stood with acheinu Bnei Yisrael as they remembered, and mourned for, those who gave their lives protecting and settling Eretz Yisrael. Students had the opportunity to reflect on the depth of these tragedies by focusing on the lives of specific individuals who paid the ultimate price, emotionally connecting to their stories and discussing them with their rebbeim. The entire school was moved by Hedy Richman, who shared the story of her nephew, Ari Weiss Hy”d, who was killed in action while serving in the IDF.

Me’afeila l’orah: The next day TABC kicked off Yom Ha’atzmaut with a schoolwide davening, featuring Hallel led by Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Adler, and blue and white donuts for breakfast. Later, the entire school gathered for a special program featuring videos and speeches by students and faculty on various aspects of Israel, including aliyah, Torah learning, startup culture and how to advocate for the Jewish State. Following the conclusion of the program and singing of “Hatikva,” everyone made their way to the hockey gym for a sit down lunch of shawarma, pita, Israeli salad and fries. With music blaring, the atmosphere was joyous and celebratory.
