Second Annual Yeshiva HS Ice Hockey Tournament Will Benefit Sharsheret and Jewish War Veterans

The second annual Rapid Fire Yeshiva High School Ice Hockey Benefit Tournament will take place on Sunday, March 25, at The John T. Wright Arena at Mackay Park in Englewood, at 5:15 p.m. There will be students representing TABC, SAR, Ramaz, Frisch, JEC, Flatbush, Kushner and Long Island yeshivas. This year the tournament will benefit Sharsheret and The Jewish War Veterans of America.

Beginning this year, the tournament will be held in memory of Dr. Dennis B. Freilich. While Dr. Freilich was passionate about his career as a pioneering retinal surgeon, his greatest source of pride was his four sons and their shared passion for ice hockey. A lifelong fan of the New York Rangers since the age of four, Dr. Freilich held season tickets for Rangers’ games for over fifty years. He had the unique privilege of witnessing his beloved team win two Stanley Cup championships in 1940 and 1994. Dr. Freilich was a notable fixture at Madison Square Garden, always flanked by his sons and then his grandchildren, cheering on the New York Rangers and imbuing his family with a great sense of sportsmanship and the importance of being a team player. His jersey now retired, Dr. Freilich’s love of the game lives on with great passion in his family.
