I really related to Elizabeth Kratz’s editorial, “Gratitude, Today and Every Day” (July 2, 2020). It’s easy to become pessimistic during these stressful, turbulent times, but I have been encouraged by the fact that so many of my friends and colleagues find something to be grateful for, and that seems to color their outlook. I’m a pretty sarcastic person, not usually given to sentimentality, but I can’t help thinking it would be inspiring to see a “Gratitude” page in The Jewish Link in the weeks to come. What if we all shared our positivity with each other? It doesn’t even have to be weighty, important stuff. I needed one of my boys to point out how cool it is to watch the bees pollinate the flowering bush outside our living room window. Now I try to stop and take a few minutes every day to appreciate our garden and all the wondrous creatures that inhabit it.
