Sefer Tehillim on Klaf to Be Completed In Boro Park on Rosh Chodesh Elul

On Monday, August 9, Rosh Chodesh Elul, a sefer Tehillim, handwritten on klaf, will be completed by a sofer mumcheh and will be the first of its kind outside Israel. The completion will be marked with a hachnasas sefer Tehillim celebration, beginning with the kesivas haosiyos at 5:45 p.m. at 1254 51st St. in Brooklyn, in which the final letters at the end of the Tehillim scroll will be inked in by leading rabbanim and community leaders, followed by live music at 7 p.m.

The Tehillim will be stationed in the heart of Boro Park, close to Maimonides Hospital. All Tehillim will be read from a klaf, led by talmidei chachamim and guest rabbanim. The Tehillim will be joined in person or through live-stream daily, chapter by chapter, starting on August 10, 2 Elul.

In addition to being the first Tehillim on klaf outside Israel, this will be the first live-streamed, open-participation Tehillim recital, therefore the first to unite klal Yisrael with daily tefillah out of a handwritten klaf.

The Steipler Gaon, zt”l, writes in Karyana D’Igarta that Tehillim handwritten on klaf with a special kedusha has a unique power in its prayers, “retzuya umekubeles beyoser,” on a higher level and meriting “greater acceptance” above.

The Tehillim on klaf can be found at 1254 51st St. and will be streamed live on www.tehillimonklaftefilah.org  from Sunday through Thursday at 1 p.m. (EST). You can also submit names of individuals in need to be mentioned at the tefillah.
