Sender’s Smoke Joint and Bespoke Men’s Grooming Team Up With Customer Discounts

If you’re a guy who could use a post-lockdown makeover and some culinary comfort, Sender’s Smoke Joint and Bespoke Men’s Grooming in Teaneck have a deal for you: Go to either place and get a discount at the other.

“Dre has been coming into the restaurant since we opened and we have been talking about collaborating,” said Gabe Gilbert, chef and partner in Sender’s, 190 West Englewood Avenue, a few blocks from Bespoke at 1395 Queen Anne Road. “We all took a hit from COVID and decided this is the time to bring everyone together and help each other get our names out in the community.”

Dre Perrin, owner of Bespoke—which means custom—and his stylists give men the VIP treatment with skilled haircuts and a range of procedures like hot-towel shaves and beard trims in a mature, adult atmosphere. There’s also a private kids area for boys 13 and under, where parents can comfortably relax while they wait. He feels strongly about inclusion and welcomes men of all races and cultures. Perrin is well acquainted with the religious requirements Jewish men have regarding their hair.

Perrin has been in the area since 1991, and has been cutting hair since he first learned at 13 years old. He’s proud of his craft and has trained most of the barbers working now in the Teaneck area. Bespoke had to close due to the pandemic from March to June and has reopened, following all local and state health laws. He is seeing men come in with very grown-out hair and beards and is giving them a fresh, new look to go back to work or school, in person and on screen.

Sender’s has built a following with smoked meats, specialty pizzas and hearty lunch sandwiches. Gilbert is always adding items to the menu, like the new short ribs marinated in beer and coffee and finished with barbecue sauce. He recently introduced two new pizzas and the Sender’s Smoke Bomb—a Latin dish with mashed potatoes, fried meat and sizzling heat. Empinadas, meat filled pastries, have also been “flying off the shelves.” Take out, eat outside or have your meal delivered.

Go to Bespoke for a haircut, or Sender’s for a meal, and say, “Get discount.” You’ll like the shaved prices.
