On Tuesday, July 4, seven people were wounded and one pregnant woman lost her child in a car-ramming and stabbing in northern Tel Aviv. According to The Times of Israel, a Palestinian terrorist rammed his pickup truck into pedestrians, and proceeded to get out of the car and stab more people. The assailant, later named as Abed al-Wahab Khalaila, 20,was shot dead by an armed civilian.
Police spokesman Eli Levy reported the incident as a terror attack, with four of the victims in serious condition at nearby hospitals, including one pregnant woman, who later lost her child due to the severe wounds. One man was stabbed in the stomach and required immediate surgery.
The civilian who shot the attacker told police, “I parked my motorcycle at the bus stop. As I was leaving the bus stop, I heard a loud noise. I thought it was a traffic accident.”
“The terrorist chased me. I shot him and he fell. My legs were shaking. I was praying that the bullet would fire, because if it didn’t I was dead,” he said.
The Shin Bet security agency said the terrorist, from the West Bank town of as-Samu, did not have an entry permit to Israel. He had no prior security offenses.
