(Courtesy of Shaarei Orah) Shaarei Orah, The Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck, located at 1425 Essex Road, held its inaugural dinner honoring Heidi and Jack Varon, Susan and Ezra Douek, Amy Elfman and Richard Schulz, and Shalom Shushan for their years of commitment and dedication to the synagogue. Thanks to a talented dinner committee including Jeffrey Esses, Debbie Douek, Joshua Murad, Ben Cohen, and Erica Ohayon, the event, held at Ahavath Torah in Englewood, exceeded all expectations in terms of attendance and fundraising and was a most memorable evening for all.
There were many different stations of delicious Sephardic food provided by Zami Caterers, in addition to music by the renowned band Ouri Biton and Avi Peretz, photography, a unique photo booth by Galit Karva, and impeccable decor by Racheli Carmi that featured an authentic-looking shuk. The warmth and spirit of the guests from within and without the synagogue and community was palpable throughout the evening from the beginning cocktail hour through the spirited end-of-the-evening dancing.
