Teaneck—An extraordinarily exciting and meaningful event took place Sunday evening, August 3rd at Shaarei Orah, the Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck with a presentation by Captain Oded Cohen, a commando in Israel’s elite Egozi unit. Captain Cohen spoke about his experiences in Gaza and his feelings about the overall situation in Israel. His captivating speech, received with admiration and gratitude by the crowd of nearly one hundred, noted that the real victory in this war is the fact that Israeli soldiers felt deeply supported by the entire nation of Israel. He noted the incredible bravery and dedication of Tzahal and their selfless devotion to the nation on a whole. The speech was followed by the recitation of Tehillim (Psalms) and the prayer for the Israel Defense Forces led by Shaarei Orah member Ezra Douek, himself a retired IDF officer who fought in three of Israel’s wars. Rabbi Haim Jachter, rabbi of Shaarei Orah, concluded the evening with a call for increased love among the Jewish people and performance of kind deeds for the spiritual merit of the IDF soldiers and all citizens of the State of Israel.
