Shaina Stiefel, daughter of Marvin and Miriam Stiefel of Englewood, was married July 9 to Alter Gross, a son of Vivian and Avrumi Gross of Teaneck. The wedding took place at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor, New York.
The bride is a graduate of Rutgers University and the Frisch School. The groom is a graduate of Yeshiva University, and learned for one year in Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Zion in Israel after graduating from Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA). He is currently an audit coordinator for Centers Health Care in the Bronx. The couple met at a Chanukah party in 2015 where they were introduced by a mutual friend.
Shaina said she chose Anthony’s for its beautiful indoor and outdoor settings. “The first thing you see when you get there is Cinderella’s carriage,” she said. “The chuppah room has an outdoor feeling, indoors,” with lots of trees and a garden-like environment. She loved the waterfall behind the bedecken. Perhaps the most dramatic element at Anthony’s is an elevator that takes the bride and groom one floor up to the dining room, straight into the waiting crowd of family and friends.
Shaina had high praise for the other vendors that made her day special. She wore a white lace trumpet style gown that she found in Bridal Garden in Manhattan after a long search. The music was excellent as she knew it would be; Jonathan Rimberg and the Nafshenu Orchestra are old friends of both families. Galaxy Photography of Brooklyn captured the family portraits and special moments throughout the event. Main Street Florist in Monsey framed the room and tables with perfectly blooming white and pink floral arrangements. Like all brides, Shaina didn’t eat much but everyone told her the food was excellent. “The day flies by,” Shaina said wistfully, “but it was a dream come true.”
The couple is living in Washington Heights, New York.
