All the students at Shalom Yeladim day care had a great week celebrating Tu B’Shevat. Every class made tree themed art projects, such as paper plate fruit baskets and tissue paper almond blossom trees. Every class enjoyed a Tu B’Shevat seder which included several of the seven species of Israel to try, such as dates, figs, spelt crackers and whole wheat cookies. They also had dried prunes, apricots and orange slices. The children all enjoyed trying new foods. Each class also planted seeds in planters. The youngest students needed one on one help to put the dirt in the planter, and the oldest students did the project independently with only verbal directions.
