Balloons, Netflix, lollipops, manicures, big-screen TVs, haircuts. Put them all together and what have you got? An innovative, fun-filled hair salon for kids where fun rules! Ariel and Adam Behrman of Tenafly are proud to announce that they have opened Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids of Tenafly. “We’re really excited about opening Sharkey’s,” Ariel told The Jewish Link. “Kids and parents who come in will experience an upbeat and fun environment not typically associated with kids’ haircuts. It’s an activity for the kids rather than a chore.”
“We wanted to open a local business. We did the research and recognized a gap in the community and wanted to create a fun environment where kids could come, from first haircut all the way through the preteen years, and really enjoy.” Neither Ariel nor Adam are hair stylists. In fact, Adam works for Investors Bank and Ariel works for the Anti-Defamation League. But they felt strongly about opening up a local business and felt this was the best fit for Tenafly.
Whether it’s a baby’s first haircut, braids, a blow-out, an updo or a preschool haircut, Sharkey’s is ready to not only give your children the hairstyle they desire, but also make it a fun and unforgettable experience. Children can sit in a Lightning McQueen Race Car or Frozen Jeep while watching cartoons, Netflix or their favorite sporting events, or they can play Xbox, all while having their hair cut by trained stylists.
All haircuts include a wash, cut and blow-dry. Kids can use the Tween Lounge and enjoy fun chairs and game stations with Xbox One. A mini-cure nail polish change comes with each haircut, if desired, featuring non-toxic nail polish. Everyone gets a glamour ring, Sharkey dollars—which can be used toward products in the store—and bookmarks, balloons, lollipops and of course lots of fun, smiles and great haircuts! If you join the Sharkey’s Loyalty Rewards program you’ll enjoy 10% off any service on your first visit and, during the month of August, kids also get free Dippin’ Dots ice cream with every haircut.
Ariel shared that one more thing the kids get is a token that is used to direct a portion of the haircut fee as a donation to one of four charities that have boxes in the salon. The Behrmans will be switching up the charities on a regular basis.
Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids is located at 7 Hillside Avenue in Tenafly. The salon is open every day of the week except Mondays. During the month of August the Behrmans are holding a raffle. Be entered to win a year of free haircuts for one child. To book an appointment or to learn more, call (201) 627-8338 or visit https://sharkeyscutsforkids.com/locations/tenafly/new-jersey-tenafly/.
