Last week, some of Shefa’s Lower School classes did an Ellis Island immigration simulation to mark the end of their East Coast immigration unit in social studies. In preparation for the day, students made passports and studied for their immigration interview. The simulation included a ship ride to America, seeing the Statue of Liberty, passing bag inspection and a medical exam, completing an interview, getting their passport stamped and celebrating their entrance to America!
