Congregation Shomrei Torah’s 39th Annual Dinner will be held Sunday evening, March 2, 2014, at Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck. This gala evening honors
Ann and Joel Pogolowitz, who have been actively involved in Shomrei Torah since they moved to Fair Lawn in 1984. Joel, an accountant, and Ann, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, have served in numerous leadership positions in the shul. Joel is a former president of Shomrei Torah and is currently a member of the finance committee. Ann is an integral member of the Sisterhood Chesed Committee and previously chaired the Dinner Publicity Committee. Between them, Ann and Joel have participated in virtually every aspect of Shomrei Torah life over the past 30 years.
The David I. Goldberg Ohr HaChesed Award will be presented to Shomrei Torah’s “dynamic duo,” Assistant Rabbi Andrew Markowitz and his wife, Sara. The Markowitzes are innovators who spearhead several successful community-building projects and launched numerous educational initiatives. Their infectious enthusiasm has helped create the “buzz” that has attracted so many young couples to Shomrei Torah in the past few years. The Markowitzes’ giving nature has endeared them to all and is most worthy of this special recognition.
