Shomrei Torah Plans Moving Yom HaShoah Program

This year’s Yom HaShoah program, sponsored by the Kovacs family, will take place on Sunday night, May 5, 8 p.m., at Shomrei Torah. In his multimedia presentation, Dr. Yair Grinberg will share “Stories My Father Didn’t Tell: The Heroic Work of Zalman Grinberg,” a recollection of his father’s life, work with DPs and legacy.

His father, Dr. Z. Grinberg, a native of Lithuania, was educated there and in Switzerland, where he studied radiology. Prior to the Nazi invasion, he returned home and practiced medicine in Kovno. After the war, he helped save many lives by transforming a former German army hospital at St. Ottilien to meet survivors’ needs. Later, as chairman of the Central Committee for Liberated Jews, he was the spokesperson for more than 200,000 survivors. Dr. Grinberg and his wife, the former Eva Klein, parents of three sons, first emigrated to Israel. They later moved to the United States when their youngest son, Yair, was 2.

This program is produced with the cooperation of the Foundation for Holocaust Education Projects. Refreshments will be served. This program is open to the public—all are welcome to attend.
