Short Hairstyles Trending for Spring 2019

With Pesach just around the corner, and the frenzied feelings that come along with all your preparations, you now have the ultimate excuse to treat yourself and feel fresh with a brand-new look. As women, we know that translates anywhere from a subtle to dramatic change in their wig/hairstyle. Get ready for a major hair transition: For spring 2019, the trend is all about short hairstyles!

Kim Kardashian made the blunt cut bob on the radar. The blunt bob is characterized by an even length from front to back with zero layers. To get those signature ends, ask your stylist for a blunt chin-grazing length with a sharp finish. If the wig or your hair is thick, the ends need to be thinned out with a razor to achieve that sharp affect. This cut is so universal because it complements nearly every face shape, especially if you have a heart-shaped face or a defined jawline. If you have a round face, just elongate the length a little bit to help balance it all out. To give the hair that sleek, shiny look, use a smoothing serum and flat iron the ends to achieve a smooth finish. To give it the tousled messy slept-in look, use a curling wand and very loosely wrap the hair around one time, alternating in opposite directions. To help the texture stick, spritz the waves with a texturizing spray.

If you’re not ready for the drastic chop, then the modern shag is your answer! It’s a mid-length haircut with a face-framing piecey layered hairstyle. Kate Moss and Hailey Baldwin made this cut so popular. Their stylists like to change it up between the disheveled undone softness, which can be done on any hair texture, wavy, straight, or curly. It can be left air-dried or blown out into several different styles. To achieve this cut, a razor should be used and the ends of the hairs should be thinned out to create lots of movement. The face-framing layers should be placed to emphasize either the eyes, cheekbones or lips, depending on one’s best features. For those with smaller faces, make sure you have shorter layers around the face to open it up.

The voluminous lob is a collarbone-grazing cut that is seen on so many celebrities including Khloe Kardashian and Ashley Graham. It’s an in-between style that is long enough to be styled in so many ways but also short enough to give off that fun, carefree, volume look. This bouncy lob looks best on oval and heart-shaped faces, but a good stylist can adjust the ends and length to work for any shaped face. The trim needs to be tailored to one’s bone structure. Those with round faces need to keep the length slightly longer to lengthen the face. To avoid the shape of this cut from falling flat, use a lightweight maximum-hold mousse for the lift and volume. With so many cuts to choose from, pesach is the perfect time to debut one of these chic new looks!
