Edison’s Congregation Ahavas Yisrael (AY) capped off their Simply Tsfat Shabbaton with a musical melave malka on June 24. Simply Tsfat, two Americans and an Israeli with two guitars and a violin and compelling storytelling, have a strong fan base. Well more than 75 people from the Edison/Highland Park area enjoyed the incredible two-hour musical performance that was enhanced by delicious refreshments and community warmth. Rabbi Gedaliah Jaffe, an accomplished musician himself, joined the Simply Tsfat trio midway through the concert and added to the ruach with his guitar.
Attendees were treated to the musical stylings of the Simply Tsfat trio, who more than accomplished their stated mission of “bringing the joy and inspiration of Breslev chassidim direct from their hometown, the mystical Israeli city of Tsfat.” Traditional melodies were interspersed with tunes from the Beatles and Elvis Presley, refashioned with emphasis on the love of Hashem.
The musical Havdala and kumzitz capped off a vitalizing Shabbat that also included a Friday night tish, a lunch seuda and an inspirational seuda shlishit.
